Why we exist.

I grew up in the halls of the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts in Halifax, taking cello and ballet lessons while my mom taught piano down the hall. By twelve, I wanted to be a professional musician, but the training I needed was expensive. My family made it work with help from teachers and donors who believed in me.

When we moved to Midland in 2018, I left my roles with the Maritime Conservatory and Symphony Nova Scotia and started teaching two Suzuki students out of my living room. Word spread. Two became twenty, then forty, then more than eighty. Today, more than two hundred families call WTC home.

West Texas Conservatory is what happens when a kid who grew up inside a real conservatory gets to build one for her own community.

  • School of Music

    Ages 0–18

    Suzuki-based training in violin, cello, piano, and voice. Plus Baby Class, Orff-inspired General Music, OrKIDstra, Chamber Orchestra, and Choir. Every music student builds technique in private lessons and musicianship in group classes. The two work together. That's the method.

Our faculty are the finest classical musicians and dancers working in the Permian Basin, formally trained in the methods they teach. Suzuki. Cecchetti. Orff. Montessori-informed. Most lesson teachers in the region have one or the other. Ours have both.

Flexible monthly payment plans, scholarships, and bursaries. We believe cost shouldn't decide which children get to become artists.

About Tuition.

Our tuition reflects what serious training costs, and what our instructors are worth. Private music lessons run $1,900 to $3,800 per year by level. Group programs (ballet, art, Choir, General Music, OrKIDstra, Chamber Orchestra) range from $500 to $1,800 per year, paid monthly.

We don't pretend to be the cheapest option in Midland. We are the highest-quality. For families where cost is the barrier, not the choice, we offer need-based scholarships and bursaries. No serious applicant is turned away.
